2.26ct Malaya Garnet Medicine Cross- measures 6.3mm x 7.8mm, Extra fine bright intense peachy/orange /pink in color. This gem's origin is Tanzania, and has no enhancements. This gemstone is cut by award winning gem cutter Larry Woods. This is one of his patented cuts and comes with a certificate of authenticity from the gem cutter.
This very rare fancy garnet comes
in a variety of brilliant colors, bright golden and yellow, orange,
pink, peach, rose, cinnamon, and even color change stones. Gemologically,
Malaya Garnet appears to be a combination of spessartite garnet
and rhodolite garnet and was mistaken for spessartite garnet
when it was first discovered in the 1960’s by a Massai
tribesman in Tanzania. While there is a tendency, in today’s
market, to try and call any red orange garnet “Malaya Garnet”,
true Malaya Garnets have a very specific refractive index and
very unique medium peachy orange and bright fancy colors and
tones. This material is very rare and there has been very little
production in recent years with a steady rise in the price of
rough and fine material nearly impossible to find. Garnet is
the traditional birthstone for people born in the month of January.

Natural untreated Sapphire from
the Songea mines in Tanzania has some of the most unique colors
and combinations of color that I’ve ever seen in any gem
material. Many of these stones literally are colors within colors,
sometimes producing bi-color stones sometimes showing a mix of
colors that change as the stone is viewed from different angles,
and shift or completely change color depending on the lighting
conditions. From fine yellows, to blue, to teal, green, pink,
and purple with colors that shift with every transition of light,
these completely natural sapphires are some of the most unique
and special colored gems to be found anywhere in the world today.
The durability of sapphire makes it an excellent gem for everyday
wear in rings and many couples today are choosing sapphire as
more personal and affordable alternative to diamond for engagement
ring center stones. Sapphire is also the traditional birthstone
for people born in the month of September. | | Order # TJTM17-007-In Stock- Retail price $550.00

gemstone is cut by award winning gem cutter Larry Woods. This is one of
his patented cuts and comes with a certificate of authenticity from the
gem cutter.
Oregon Sunstone, the Oregon state
gemstone, is a rare gem quality feldspar that has been colored
by, and contains elements of copper. Found in the south eastern
corner of Oregon, in what is known as the Oregon Outback, sunstone
is one of the few gem materials that we actually have the opportunity
to access the mine sites directly and prospect for our own material.
Thanks to the generosity and graciousness of our friends at the
Dust Devil Mine, we have had many adventures
in the high desert landscape of the Hart Mt antelope refuge searching
for and sometimes finding very gemmy pieces of Oregon Sunstone
rough. The presence of copper in Oregon sunstone is what gives
the material it’s unique
and vibrant colors, including all different shades of red and
orange, green, and even red and green bi-color stones. Another
unique property of Oregon Sunstone is when tiny flakes of copper
are suspended within and line up with the crystal matrix structure
of the feldspar crystals. This produces a bright flash or sheen
of copper within the stone when oriented to the light called
schiller or schiller effect. |
